When assassins raid his home, Jeon Nok-du chases after one of them to meet their leader. He comes across a village where no man is allowed to enter.
Nok-du tries to win the heart of the widows by understanding the female psyche. Jung Yun-jeo comes out of hiding to find help for his wounded son.
It's revealed that the widows' village serves a greater purpose than housing women. Dong Dong-ju keeps a wary eye on Nok-du.
To ensure secrecy, Nok-du asks to become Dong-ju's adoptive mother. Members of Muwoldan challenge Nok-du to steal from his "father-in-law."
Nok-du professes his love for Cha Yul-mu to keep him away from Dong-ju. Meanwhile, the arrival of Nok-du's bride-to-be jeopardizes his operation.
As the investigation moves forward, Nok-du learns that an unlikely player is involved. He finally finds out who is leading the group of assassins.
The king and his men invade the village and the nearby courtesan house to uncover their secrets. Yul-mu sets his sights on the throne.
Nok-du falls unconscious after defending the widows from an ambush. Dong-ju nurses him back to health, but leaves without saying goodbye.
Reunited in Hanyang, Nok-du stays close to Dong-ju to make sure she pays her debt in full. Yul-mu asks Muwoldan to support him in the uprising.
Nok-du sees the king's face, but realizes it's not the first time he's met him. Heo Yun warns the king of the coming rebellion.
Dong-ju enters the palace as the queen's handmaiden. Yul-mu makes sure Yun doesn't make it out of prison alive by fueling the king's suspicion.
Now that she's closer to carrying out her revenge, Dong-ju prepares for the worst. Kim Ssuk discovers a safe that holds a list of Yul-mu's supporters.
Yul-mu gives Nok-du a chance to get even with the man who has been hunting him his whole life. But Nok-du already has a plan in motion.
With Dong-ju gone, Nok-du tries his best to conceal his emotions while keeping close to the king. Meanwhile, he senses that someone is following him.
As the sole heir to the throne, Nok-du demands a peaceful transition of power. But Yul-mu is in too deep to turn back now.
The fight ends abruptly, and Nok-du barely makes it out of the palace alive. To buy him some time, Dong-ju makes a bargain with Yul-mu.
