On his last day of middle school, a suicidal Mirai Kakehashi throws himself from a building rooftop only to be rescued by an angelic figure.

With Nasse's encouragement, Mirai decides to use his new abilities to find happiness. He later learns that another God candidate has suddenly died.

After Mirai's childhood friend and crush Saki shoots him with a red arrow of love, he eagerly agrees to keep her safe by helping her fly with him.

During the live broadcast, God candidates Metro Blue and Yellow realize Metropoliman has duped them. A child appears in the sky and begs to join them.

Mirai and Saki leave the ballpark feeling powerless. That evening, they are visited by another God candidate, who demands to be shot with an arrow.

Mukaido surmises that Metropoliman has given wings and arrows to a murderous girl. In a bid to stop her, he shares some equipment with Mirai and Saki.

Appearing near the tower, Metropoliman aims a white arrow at Mukaido. But Mirai, unwilling to let anyone die, uses his red arrow in a surprising way.

With Mirai having seen Metropoliman's face, the group gets closer to uncovering his true identity. Later, Saki has a shocking request for Mirai.

Mirai's group sets up a hideout in a church. After Mukaido gives Saki a suit of her own, he fears his family is in danger and flies off with Mirai.

Desperate to save his family, Mukaido rushes headlong into Hajime's trap. Frustrated by not being able to do more for Saki, Revel begins to weep.

With Hajime under the influence of Saki’s red arrow, Metropoliman and three of his winged underlings rush to the scene, intent on killing them both.

Metropoliman demands that Mirai serve as the first test subject for Fuyuko's virus. Despite his allies' protests, Mirai resolves to save everyone.

Mirai and Metropoliman agree to a shoot-out on the ground. During their duel, Metropoliman recalls the tragic event that changed his destiny.

Unbeknownst to Mirai and Metropoliman, their duel is being broadcast online for the public to see. Mirai notices something surprising about his foe.

In the aftermath of the tragic battle, Mirai wonders who shot Metropoliman with a red arrow. The remaining angels meet to discuss their partners.

Following Susumu's plea to the public, Mirai and Saki decide to lay low and lead normal lives. A detective confronts Mirai after school one day.

In their search for others like them, Mirai and Saki find Shuji Nakaumi, who says he uses his red arrows to help others fulfill their wish to die.

Temari escapes from police custody and meets up with Mirai and the others. Later, they all debate which of them should ascend to divinity.

Appearing live on TV, Mirai and the others each explain what they would do if they became God, which causes the final God candidate to reveal himself.

Following the tragic meeting, the group splits into two camps as Yoneda sways Nakaumi to his side. Hoshi reveals that he was once Yoneda's classmate.

After shooting the prime minister with a red arrow, Yoneda uses him to announce a time and place to hold a final discussion with Mirai's group.

Inside the stadium, and with the public watching, Yoneda explains his theory on the destiny of humankind before asking to speak with Mirai in private.

Nasse saves Mirai from certain death, an act that brings dire consequences for both of them. Meanwhile, Saki and Yumiki try to reason with Nakaumi.

Arriving in heaven with the angels, the new God learns the surprising secrets of humanity. Mirai and the others begin the next stage of their lives.
