Amy's department is hosting the Murder We Wrote Festival of Crime Writing at Elmstead College, featuring Amy's father, acclaimed mystery novelist Graham Winslow. But when Graham learns his literary nemesis Rick Fitch is coming, he tries to back out - until his charming (and pretty, and English, and single) new editor, Celia Bunton, convinces him otherwise. The night before the Festival, Amy's office is broken into, but she and Travis are stumped by the fact that nothing is taken. Other mysteries swirl around Betsy Crane, Graham's suspicious ex-publisher; Phil Jenk, a corrupt cop from Graham's past; and Hannah Steinhousen, a super-fan from Germany whose fixation on Graham might be dangerous. Butwhen one of the guests is murdered and their camper set on fire, the evidence leads Travis to make a surprising arrest. For the first time, Amy finds herself on the opposite side of her friend the police detective, as she fights to prove that he's got the wrong person behind bars.
