In the Key of Love

It seems like anything is possible on Piedmont Island, especially to MAGGIE CASE, who has returned to her childhood vacation spot after leaving a promising Nashville singing career to run her grandmother EVELYN's wedding photography business on this Idyllic setting off the coast of Washington. In her second summer back on the Island, just as she was beginning to forget about her former life, JAKE COLBY her ex-boyfriend and the other half of the duo Colby & Case, shows up with his sister JENNIFER for her wedding. As Maggie photographs the week of pre-wedding activities, she's thrust into spending time Jake, who is now a record producer with a big album for recording-star, Ashleigh, in the works. As the days goby, the reality of his perfectionist personality and know-it-all mentality comes flooding back as they clash reminding Maggie of why she left him, and Nashville, behind. At one of the events, a fire pit cookout on the beach, Maggie and Jake are talked into singing together. Being reminded of how beautiful they sound together, Jennifer insists that they sing her favorite song of theirs, I Belong in Your Arms, for her first dance. They agree to do it, but Maggie is conflictedabout her feelings toward Jake. While talking to her parents about it, Maggie confesses that she enjoyed singing with him again and her parents convince her to not judge him on who he used to be, but who he is now. Two days before the wedding, the flower shop's refrigeration system breaks down ruining all the flowers. Jake enlists Maggie's help as they convince the mayor of Piedmont Island to donate the flowers from his garden for wedding and together, they save the day. Theday before the wedding, they have a great rehearsal and get closer. Jake apologizes for how unbearable he was when the sang together back in Nashville. Jake gets a call that Ashleigh wants to replace one of the songs on the album. Maggie has the idea to rework an old song they wrote, and propose it as the replacement song. They send the song and connect over a romantic canoe ride that night. The next morning, the wedding ceremony goes perfectly. But before they get to the reception, Jake finds out Ashleigh loves the new song, but they need to record tonight to make the album meet it's deadline, so he has to leave before the reception. Jennifer insists that he go back because a hit album has always been his dream. But Jake is unable to tell Maggie, because the only ferry going back to the mainland is leaving immediately. When Maggie hears the news, she is disappointed but presses on. Jake realizes, while on the ferry, that he wants to be with Maggie and doesn't care about his job. But, when he gets to the mainland, he discovers there are no ferry's back today. So, he hires a small motor boat to take him back to Piedmont Island. Back at the reception, Maggie is singing "I Belongin Your Arms" by herself for Jennifer's first dance. Suddenly another voice joins hers, and Jake emerges from the crowd of wedding guests and makes his way to the stage. During an instrumental break, they both confess that what makes themhappy is being with each other and singing together. They kiss and finish the song.
