Daphne (known among friends as "Dee Dee") works at a bakery in Queens while she tries to figure out what is next for her. The bakery is commissioned to supply desserts for an international Christmas gala and fundraiser in Manhattan. When she goes to meet with the chef, she has a run in with a man (Colin) in the lobby who knocks over her baked goods. When Dee Dee later sees him playing the piano in the lobby, she recruits him to come to Queens to play for the rehearsals for aneighborhood Christmas show as payback for destroying her baked goods. Dee Dee assumes he works for the hotel - but really, he's a prince! Colin keeps his identity to himself as he finds himself at home in the Queens community among Dee Dee's family, neighbors, and friends. He participates in neighborhood Christmas activities and enjoys spending time at the rehearsals for the Christmas show. All is going well until his parents, the King and Queen of Exeter, show up in New York with a duchess they hope Colin will marry.
