A Feeling of Home

Abby Cooper is a contemporary Martha Stewart and the host of New England, My Way, a small but successful web series. When her manager courts a financial backer who could catapult the show from local to regional, an innocent lie about Abby's"authenticity" forces her to hide her Texas roots, complicated by an emergency trip to her Texas hometown to help her rancher father recover from a riding accident. Things have always been strained between father and daughter, Abby believing he's never really appreciated her. Their time together, however, will force him to open up, to reveal his true feelings of pride in her accomplishments and prove his parental love to her. As this relationship is unfolding, Abby discoversDad's new ranch hand is Ryan Bedford, her old boyfriend, a high school sweetheart who's never completely gotten over her. Forced to work together on the ranch while her father recovers, their initial sparring can't disguise the chemistry between them. Their onetime romance gradually rekindles as Abby rediscovers her love for Texas, for the people, and for Ryan in a series of local events, including a neighborhood barbecue and a county fair. Ryan has bigger dreams than Abby remembered, reluctantly hoping to sell his family home for a down payment on some ranch land of his own. Her talent for home improvements helps him upgrade and stage the beautiful old farm house to get a better price -- but along the way, she encourages him to market his locally famous, secret recipe for barbecue sauce, thinking that might help him save the family home and still afford the land he dreams of. Meanwhile, the pressure to keep up installments of her web series forthe potential backer forces her to comic lengths to make the ranch seem like New England on her videos. In the end, everything works out for the best. Abby and her father patch up a lifetime of misunderstandings. Abby's potential backer discovers the truth of her Texas roots, but remains a fan and funds a Southwestern show for her, the first episode featuring Ryan's famous sauce. And Ryan's fear of history repeating itself with Abby leaving as she did back in high school isput to rest as she opts to stay in her hometown and satisfy not only her career, but her heart's desire.
