Nick Beckwith loses his flashy high finance job right before the Christmas season starts. Julie Gibbons and her son Matt are spending the first Christmas without her dad, and her outgoing boy is suddenly shy and withdrawn. Enter Clem Marshall, the owner of Star Top Trees, a Christmas tree salesman who arrives on a Chicago street corner just in time to offer Nick a job and Julie some support. Through the Christmas tree lot, Nick finds the meaning in hard work and the value ofbelonging, while Julie realizes that accepting help from others is not a weakness but a blessing. For his part, Clem realizes that the tree lot is more than just a job he does to honor is departed wife, but a place where loves grows and newfamilies begin.
