Mahendra, a postman, is shattered when he delivers the death news of his sister Manju's husband. He takes a transfer to Baghdoba village and meets Mithu, a childless girl. He keeps Mithu's father's death news a secret and borrows money from the villagers so that he can continue supporting them, but is arrested.
