‘Baluchari’ is the story of a sister’s sacrifice for her siblings. Mandira is left with the responsibilities of her siblings Indu, Chanda and Nanda after the demise of her father. Abhi proposes to marry Manda and share her responsibilities but Manda doesn’t want to burden him and says he has to wait if he wants to marry her. Manda starts a kindergarten school and raises her siblings. Nanda graduates with an engineering degree. But he leaves his sister when he gets a job offer on the condition that he has to marry the owner’s daughter Sheila. Manda is shattered but she arranges the wedding of her sisters. Sheila suspects that Manda mortgaged their ancestral house to get the sisters married. But, Nanda doesn’t believe it. Nanda takes Sheila to Manda and she realizes her mistake. Abhi comes back to take Manda with him and start a new life.
