Chhandaneer is the story of a Bharatnatyam dancer Seema and her love for the art. Seema is a devoted classical dancer and is not ready to make any compromises with her art. She falls in love with a blind but talented singer Ayan and decides to marry him as he'll always understand her love for her art. She marries against her parents' wish who are disheartened at her choice. The couple start living happily amidst all their problems. There's a rift between the couple when Ayan asks Seema to dance in a show where cheap songs were being performed. Seema separates with Ayan when he signs a commercial venture and compromises with his art for money. Ayan is duped by the producer and is left helpless. Seema stages a big show together with renowned classical singer Dr. Bala Murthy. But, she fractures her leg and is able to get out of the trauma. She and Ayan both realize their mistake and go to a sea beach for change. When Seema sees a child running towards the sea she tries hard and is able to run and save the child. Seema is completely cured and gets back to her dance.
