Ananya' is the story of Yamuna bai who gets into her mother's profession of a nautch girl only to bring up a boy she found abandoned on the river banks. She fights the world for him and also refuses to marry Chandrakant. She sends her son Gopal to her Guruji to train him in music and rechristens him Jyoti. Jyoti grows up to become a renowned singer. But, he starts hating his mother when he finds out about her profession. Chandrkant and Guruji finally help to remove the misconceptiosn and mother and son is united.
