Lakha is a poor bird seller living in the village and leads a peaceful life. His job is to catch birds and send them to be sold in Kolkata. Life goes on till one day Lakha decides to go to Kolkata with his friends. There he witnesses the brutality by which these birds were killed for consumption. He experiences a state of shock, a hard reality that he had never thought of even in his dreams. His world is shattered and he realizes that he is the prime reason for the destruction of nature as it is he, who catches the birds for them to be killed ultimately. Lakha comes back home and decides to leave his profession for good however knows that this would lead to a permanent stop to his income. His love for birds take a new dimension and he starts neglecting his social responsibilities. His family thinks that he has gone mad and he goes at the verge of becoming an outcast. His once upon a time’s loving wife chooses someone else over him and he lets them go. As he dedicates his life to the welfare of the birds he feels that he has been able to live upto the expectations of a human being and seeks to live his life beneath the wings of his birds.
