Deepa (Vidya Sinha), a highly qualified girl with simple dreams, is betrothed to Sanjay (Amol Palekar), a forgetful, tardy but lovable and caring boyfriend. Deepa goes to Mumbai for a job interview and chances upon Navin (Dinesh Thakur), her old boyfriend from college who was a passionate youngster and has now become a responsible and successful man. Through the course of the story, Deepa finds herself caught in a dilemma as she reminisces her past with Navin and her future with Sanjay. Will Navin's sudden appearance in her life change her heart?
